Training & Support
NDF believes that a voluntary agency can only survive and grow if it provides support, training and encouragement to its members. This year’s training sessions were planned in conjunction with professional training providers. The training sessions reflected various needs that had been identified through in-depth discussion with long-term, new and potential members. These sessions proved to be extremely useful in terms of enhancing the skills of NDF members. Topics covered included an overview of how NDF is managed and operates; where NDF fits into local health, voluntary sector & social service settings; practical meeting skills; Disability and Racial Equality Awareness training.
Other core
support that NDF has continued to offer members to enable them to
attend meetings has included: the reimbursement of travelling
expenses; enabler and communication support (the latter has
included BSL and Lip-speaking).
