Enabler Support / Communication Support
Three skilled enablers have been recruited to provide Forum members with support at Forum meetings. Their support includes enabling members to negotiate the Civic Centre’s lift system in order to attend the monthly meetings. The Forum would like to thank Gillian Tulip for all the enabling support that she has provided over the last 18 months at the monthly Forum meetings.
The Forum has continued to provide extensive communication support to members at meetings, including BSL signing, lip-speaking and Overhead Projection writing. As noted below, audio-taped versions of minutes and other information has been increasingly made available.
Support for NDF Members: recording equipment
As part of
the Forum’s commitment to improving its provision of
information to members and other agencies in a wide range of
formats (especially with regard to members with visual
impairments) new recording equipment has been purchased thanks to
a grant from one of our Funders. It is now possible, via transfer
from minidisk to audiotape, to produce a high standard of
audiotape versions of the minutes of meetings and other
information, including statutory authority green papers. This
essential work assists the Forum in its production of information
that is of benefit to all its members and is also consistent with
the requirements of Section 21 of the Disability Discrimination
Act.
